Architect Clyde Johnston took traditional English styling and combined it with influences from courses like Augusta National and Winged Foot to create Shaftesbury Glen. This fantastic par 72 course runs 6,935 yards and players are encouraged to club up and rip it onto the wide open fairways prevalent on most holes. Once you get there, however, your approaches will need to be carefully considered, with most greens elevated and distance on second shots determining just how low your score can be. The course features varying contours, a multi-level look with elevated tees and greens and unique aspects like a double green serving two holes. The Avocet course is an 18-hole course that will delight golfers of all abilities, and for those seeking a 9-hole round, be sure to experience the Hummingbird course, a perennial favorite for a half-day of golf.
Architect Dan Maples incorporated the natural aspects inherent of the coastal Carolina are when designing The Witch, and the result is a fantastic 18-hole course that offers no hint of artificiality. Carved from pine forests and unspoiled wetlands, nearly 4000 feet of bridges weave their way through the marshes from hole to hole, and these aspects of the course are as scenic as they are treacherous to wayward shots. Like other Dan Maples designs, The Witch is first and foremost a golf course, with no homes or condos located along any of its holes.
